Yesterday I learned that bookcrosser Iwillrejoice died this spring. I went in search of books to honor her memory and found this non-fiction book by Truman Capote, the first true crime book. Iwillrejoice enjoyed mysteries. This is to be released in her memory. I think that in its way the True Crime genre comes from the Judeo-Christian context of our culture. We have a longing for JUSTICE.
About the Book:
On November 15, 1959, in the small town of Holcomb, Kansas, four members of the Clutter family were savagely murdered by blasts from a shotgun held a few inches from their faces. There was no apparent motive for the crime, and there were almost no clues.
Truman Capote reconstructs the murder and the investigation that led to the capture, trial, and execution of the killers. His brilliant analysis and writing created the now pervasive TRUE CRIME genre.
