I got this book for my birthday and had never heard of it. It's set in South Africa, starting during Apartheid: a house is promised to a black house maid... the years go by and she doesn't get it, while the white family which promised it dies one by one. The story always focuses on the next one of them to die, really strange idea and extremely well written. I had to put some books I wanted to read after that one away because the difference in quality was so big, I couldn't tolerate it. Great book.

at first I thought about keeping this book, because I really liked it. But maybe it's even more important for GOOD books to travel. Happy Birthday, even if I'm a little late...
