This is a free book produced for Book Week Scotland celebrated 19-25 November 2018.

Everybody rebels. It's part of what makes us human to occasionally do the things we know we shouldn't, say things we know will provoke or fight against things we believe are unjust. Rebellion incites opposition and change, allows us to find our own individual voices and inspires future generations to challenge convention and expectation. These true stories give insight into the rebellious side of the people of Scotland and some of its most talented writers.

The people of Scotland share what Rebel means to them, including stories by Professor Dame Sue Black and Nathan Sparling.

I suppose if you are going to ask Scottish people to write about rebelling, you are going to get a lot of swear words (just to warn you). Some of the stories written in dialect are a little hard going even for a Scot but there is one that sounds like it should be read with a Jamaican accent! I quite enjoyed most of these and, of course, as readers, we should all be cheering on people like Angie Walker. But being a huge Sue Black fan I liked hers the best. I donated to Million for a Morgue and have left my body to the anatomy department – but not yet. Still, I can look forward to be being in the Val McDermid Mortuary and the Stuart MacBride Dissecting Room. The other eight authors that took part had embalming tanks named after them. I wonder if I get to choose which one I go in?
