Caught at Higher Ground today.

Erich Maria Remarque (pen name of Erich Paul Remark) who wrote All Quiet on the Western Front, first published in 1929, is one of the best known and most widely read authors of German literature in the twentieth century, and what a phenomenal writer he was, his stories stay with one forever. This story, first published in 1931, presents a wide range of characters allowing Remarque to sketch many possible paths for soldiers surviving war. These include rehab and hospitalization for the severely injured, the impact of venereal disease, mental health issues and the shattering effect on families. Remarque's writing is unadorned, transparent, brutal and riveting.
