Welcome to BookCrossing!
Thank you for picking up this book. If you’re new to BookCrossing and find this book and this site (www.bookcrossing.com), please make a journal entry to let me know that this book has found a good home with you. You may choose to remain anonymous or to join.
I hope you'll join BookCrossing (doesn't cost anything to join!) and if you do, please consider using me, earthcaroleanne, as your referring member. When you’ve finished reading this book and are ready to send it on its way again, make a journal entry if you are giving or sending this book to a known person, or a release note if you are leaving it “in the wild” again for anyone to catch. Then watch its journey. You’ll be alerted by e mail each time someone makes another journal entry. And it’s confidential (you are known only by your screen name and no one is ever given your e-mail address), free, and spam-free.
Enjoy the site, the book and hopefully the BookCrossing community. If you’re already a BookCrossing member, thank you for picking up this book.
Happy BookCrossings!

Storytelling is inherent to Scotland’s national identity. The stories we tell and who we share them with, are a fundamental part of our lives. From remembering the tales passed down to us in childhood, to reflecting on the defining moments that shaped our lives, or the places, people and communities that helped us find home – stories connect us to ourselves and the people around us. Whether it’s the memory of picking berries in summer time surrounded by family, the transcendent joy of attending a ceilidh, or an newly –found family finding their feet in a foreign land, these pieces highlight the rich and varied tradition of storytelling in Scotland, paying tribute to the stories already written and those still to be told. This collection has been written by people all over the country, reflecting on the theme of Scotland’s Stories as part of Scottish Book Trust’s annual project, Your Stories.
This is a free book that was produced to celebrate Book Week Scotland 2022, with stories from the Scottish public. As usual, I have picked up a few of these during Book Week Scotland to pass on. There is always a little gem in these books and this year, for me, it was the descriptions in The Seeds of Our Home.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
Adding to the Scottish Book Buffet at the International Bookcrossing Convention held in Falkirk in 2023.

A sweet wee book, just right for reading while travelling. I think it will come to Locarno with my sister and me tomorrow.

A book to dip into - very short stories and poems - not really stories but memories, reminiscences, some of them reminding me of my own childhood, not in Scotland but the north of England. I also called my mother's friends my aunties - Aunty Joan, Aunty Alice, Aunty Olive, Auntie Reece (that was her surname, we never called her Aunty Edna and my mother called her Mrs Reece, she was quite elderly, always dressed in shades of pink and lilac, powdery, smelling of Yardley's lavender).
I liked these glimpses of Scottish life and particularly Faeries and The Quilted Dressing Gown. Some are written in dialect, or rather, the way broad Scots is pronounced, and I was pleased that I could understand them.
