The author intersperses what is a serious novel with occasional witticisms. There is good characterisation as the credible plot is introduced, and Clifford has a way of maintaining the suspense however I found it just an OK read

I enjoyed this book, interesting well developed characters. A good, quick easy read. Alex Tillerson is in the small coastal town of Merritt, to look after her mother who is suffering from dementia. She and her mother find a woman’s leg on the beach, and Alex is determined to find out what killed her. She discovers another young woman was murdered some months earlier in suspicious circumstances. The local policeman is being obstructive, but Alex still keeps investigating. She also wants find out why her mother left the the town where she had grown up as a teenager. Leaving with a friend to read.
