This was okay. Most of the concepts were the sort that are very familiar to those of us with scientific training, so it was a little dull to read about them again. Those without a science background might stand to learn a lot from this book, because it does explain its ideas with reasonable clarity; however, I suspect that those people might be unlikely to pick up a book titled 'The Joy of Science'.
