A collection of light-hearted and humorous anecdotes by the novelist Marian Keyes about her observations and experiences. I found it quite eye-opening to know what the life of an author is really like. This is great fun to read.
This book is about to be sent on a book ray. This is a list of the order of mailing (subject to change). I will be sending the book out tomorrow (21 May 2004) to dingus.

Under the Duvet has just arrived here this morning. It was waiting for me when I came back from work, what a nice surprise. I will start reading it as soon as I have finished the book I'm reading at the moment. Thx Myopic Meringue for letting me read it and thx Dingus for sending it to me...
Under the Duvet is a collection of journalism and exclusive stories by Marian Keyes. She writes about her every day live as an author, a wife, a daughter, an Irish woman and much more. I like the way you can feel, that she loves to write without taking herself too serious all the time.
I had a lot of fun reading the stories, they are often funny and had me laugh out loud, sometimes they're more serious and once in a while you can just about notice that MK is not always the outgoing person she seems to be at first sight but has a darker side too. I wished, we had writers like that in our newspaper.
I wonder what other expressions there are in different languages for "under the duvet". In German, we have the expression "aus dem Nähkästchen plaudern" which would be translated more or less: talk from the sewing box. Maybe there are more expressions like this???

I thought this was one of her novels, rather than a collection of pieces written for various papers/magazines over the last few years. That said, I enjoyed it! Will send to elhamisabel as soon as I can hobble to the post office with one hip and one arm in plaster...
I recieved the book today.
Thank you, MyopicMeringue, for including me and you, battypuss, for sending it to me.
I have another unfinished bookring to read so it may take some days until I write again.

This BookRay arrived at my house today. Will PM the next person to be read as I've started it already.
I received the book today in the mail. I will read it as soon as I can. Thank you for the oppertunity.
Unfortunately, this bookray appears to have stalled. I have been unable to get hold of wissota, so I have purchased another copy of the book, and will be sending it out to spaceystacey, so that the ray can continue.
***UPDATE*** (on 14 February 2005):
Looks like I was wrong - the bookray hasn't stalled and can therefore continue. Hooray! Thanks, wissota, for sending it on - sorry for the misunderstanding.

Yay! I absolutely adore Marian Keyes! I have three other book ring books, but I suspect I'll still be starting this one pretty quick as I won't be able to resist getting right into it!
I read this over the weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it. In fact, I was upset when I reached the end of the book, I thought there were still several pages left and then I was looking at a preview of her next book instead! Bah! Marian Keyes is one of my favorite authors, and as with her novels, she made me, if not laugh out loud, smile quite a bit. The essays here actually read much like her novels, which shows how much of an author's personal experience and personality go into their stories.
Mailed to Nik-the-Stik today!

Just finished this afternoon on my lunch break! Greatly entertaining read - I felt like I was reading my own journal, throughout many of her anecdotes, observations & points of view. Tooo amusing! :) I really loved her style; I would definitley recommend this to anyone looking to chuckle out loud!
Thanks for sharing this!
Have just PM'ed BigBird2002 for an address, and will mail out ASAP, upon receiving :)

Received aok - up next on the TBR list!
I really enjoyed this. As everyone else said...some of the stories were very funny some not so funny...just like everyone's life! I thought it was funny how she always called her husband Himself. I started calling my husband that, but he just didn't get it!
Got the book on Wednesday, sorry for the delay in entry. Looks great. Have a little more time to read since I got layed off a month ago.
UPDATE: What a great book once I could finally get to it. It was a quick read. Will send on shortly - waiting for next person's address

sent on to Gizmopuddy as I have had the bookring for far too long
Received the book today with the most wonderful care package from AceofHearts and Hoserlauren, thank you both so much. Really made my day. Will read the book as soon as possible and pass it on.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book. I think it was the only Marian Keyes I hadn't read, she portrays the life of a thirtysomething Irish women so well. So many of those stories were mine also, particularly about being an Irish ex pat.
I have Tabyorky's address, but will just drop her a quick PM to make sure she hasn't moved
Thanks so much MyopicMeringue for arranging this.

Finally arrived! This book has traveled a lot but it looks great! I have already started reading it. Thank you MyopicMeringue for organising the ray and thank you Gizmopuddy for mailing the book to me (the postcard was great:)).
30 November: the best book I've read this month for sure! It's true that not all the articles were that funny but I liked the fact that they dealt with a various number of topics. After reading so many Marian Keyes books it was time to find out more about her life - for example, I didn't know she had so many problems with alcohol.
My favorite articles were the ones which dealt with obtaining a driving licence (maybe that is because I also have to pass through that procedure in the near future...and I am really scared).
I have pmed the owner of the ray because my best friend (jade405) also wants to join this ray. But after she reads the book (I'm sure it won't take her more than a week - she is also a big Marian Keyes fan:)) we are ready to send it on its way.

I just finished reading it yesterday, and found it delightful. Until now, I've read three of Marian Keyes' novels and enjoyed all. I would reccomend this book to all who enjoy her previous writings, because it's even more refreshing, and will make you recognize yourself in several situations.
I've sent the book to blaisezabini12.
