I guess if you’ve read one horse-racing mystery by Dick Francis, you’ve read them all. But it’s been years since I’ve read one, and I really liked this one!
Sid Halley, the jockey whose injury made him retire, now has a serious love interest. In addition, the author explores Sid’s relationships with his ex-wife and ex-father-in-law.
This mystery has some red herrings and some complicated plot twists. And I never knew whodunit until the very last chapter — so I’m glad I went back and spent some more time with Dick Francis and his racing colleagues.

Left this book on a pile of stickers in the Little Free Library. The stickers depicted animals much wilder than racehorses 😉
