I love the Anne series, but I have never, ever read Further Chronicles of Avonlea - in fact, I hadn't even heard of it before! I'm thrilled to find out what these short stories are about! The cover art is promising, nice and serene.
This book was included in a surprise RABCK parcel from tchouli - and it was just one among four books! Thank you ever so much, tchouli!

I've had some friends staying over at my place for almost two weeks, and during their visit I've been reading these stories one by one, usually at night before going to sleep. I even took the book to Estonia on a day trip! (I released some books during that trip, and so far at least one of them has been caught and journalled!)
Now my friends have gone and I have finished reading these stories of Avonlea. I enjoyed them a lot, some were very predictable but some had actually quite clever twists. My favourite was perhaps the one about the persian cat bringing about a marriage. The language of these stories is not always brilliant, but that didn't bother me in the least. (Sometimes I get very irritated at tiny style errors!)
The last story, Tannis of the Flats was surprisingly racistic, but despite that - or, to be honest, exactly because of that - all the more interesting. I don't mean to say that I find the story racistic in a particularly hateful way, but it's laden with silly racial stereotypes most likely prevalent at the time of writing. It would make good material for a research about how indians or "half-breeds" were presented in the early 20th century literature.
I had a good time reading this book - thank you once again, tchouli, for passing it on to me! Next I will give the book to my friend who has already read Chronicles of Avonlea and would like to read Further Chronicles as well. She might then give the book back to me, or wild release it.

Montgomeryä. Paljon tuttuja aiheita. On vielä kesken.
Edit: My dear friend suurpeura accidently wrote the above entry disguised as me. We'll now transfer the book into her bookshelf, virtually as well as physically. -harmaja-

In the middle of reading.
Today I got Further Chronicles of Avonlea back from my friend suurpeura, who promised to complete her journal entry soon. In the meantime I will think about what to do with this book next. Perhaps I shall bring it to a local meet-up next week.
I got this book from last Helsinki-meeting. I had never read Avonlea-books before, but my very first bookring book was Anne of Green Gable and I loved this book and wanted to read others in this series as well. When Harmaja offered it on meeting I was so happy. I'm going to read this next!
Luin muutaman tarinan, en kaikkia. Tunnelma oli välillä aika naivia ja nättiä, ehkä nuoremmille lukijoille tuo sopisi paremmin.
Vien kirjan bc-tapaamiseen.

Kirja joutui reppuuni jolla on iso nielu. Enpä ole tainnut Montgomeryä lukeakaan teini-iän jälkeen ja silloinkin vain suomenkielisiä.
My rucksack has a big mouth and it swallowed this book at the meeting in Helsinki.

Found this book outside the Scott Monument in Edinburgh. Haven’t had the chance to read it yet but I definitely will!
