"The black velvet sky was alive with diamonds. Diamonds that were the light from whole systems of worlds millions of miles away racing through the black emptiness of space for unimaginable years to come to her very own eyes this late summer night.

Did the stars know about her? Or was she truly nothing--not even a speck of dust to whatever or whoever was there in those blazing, whirling worlds? I'm here, she cried out silently. It's me, Angel Morgan." (excerpt from back of book)

This book was a library discard purchased at the summer book sale at Central Rappahannock Regional Libraries in Virginia, USA.

Kathrine Paterson's sensitivity and graceful writing elevate the tale of a young girl trying to hold her family together while preventing the dissolution of her family via foster care. This book is so real, so heartbreaking, and yet manages to get us to empathize with some very flawed characters while still not excusing their behavior.

Highly recommended for both adults and children.

Popped up in my mailbox today. I was waiting for someone so sat by the mailbox and read the first few pages. Looks like something I will enjoy. I am hopeful of getting it read in the next few weeks to share with someone else who likes this author's work.
