I got this ex-library board-book from Better World Books. It illustrates the alphabet with stylized illustrations from the lives of indigenous peoples of California, from "A is for acorn" through "Z is for zzzzz" (showing a snoring baby, bundled in its carrying basket). There are nods to myths and legends, as in "C for canoe", which includes an image of Coyote paddling the canoe, and touches of tribal culture, as in "G for grandparents," showing an elderly couple with a child - and showing the lower-jaw tattoos on the grandmother. Each illustration also has a border with different symbols. Handsome little book!
