"Read this book and discover the small changes you can make now that will add up to make a big difference". The world is drowning in PLASTIC! It's gotten to the point where we are consuming micro-bits of the stuff in the food we eat. Instead of finding this paperback depressing, I hope it will inspire you to DO something, such as taking your own bags to thegrocery store/refusing plastic bags, using recyclable/or re-useable utensils for picnics and - PLEASE - get yourself a permanent, refillable bottle for water. So many people blithely grabbing flats of individual bottles of water off store shelves - it makes you pull out your hair. Bottled water is SO unnecessary (except in emergency situations) not to mention a rip-off. What country has the most fresh water in the world? Yes, you can do something, and this little book will help.

My own copy was a gift from Bookcrosser Poodlesister, which she gave me when I was visiting the UK in 2019. To the Finder of this book: You've found a free "travelling" book, registered on Bookcrossing.com which is just like geo-caching - but for books. Please take a moment to make a brief journal entry, so we know it's been found. When you are done with the book, pass it on and help its journey continue. Bookcrossing is free, anonymous and "aims to make the whole world a library". There are hundreds of thousands of Bookcrossers all over the world!

I have been trying to do my part and am eager to see what else I can do, beyond the obvious. I can't remember what we used when I was growing up. We sure didn't have plastic bags for EVERYTHING. So, what did we use for garbage, etc? My mind is a blank.

Fun meetup today and so nice to get back to in-person. Thank you, Mother Nature, for making the weather cooperate so we could enjoy the outdoor patio and fresh air!

"What did we use for garbage?" We used the paper bags that our groceries came in! I well remember those paper bags with a bit folded over at the top, in our metal garbage bin. Oh....and who can forget the bottom falling out sometimes, and yuck...garbage all over the place.

This was an interesting read but very British-centric and there were several terms that I wasn't familiar with. Some I could figure out from context, others, not. What are: a Guppy Bag, a biro, sarnies, a technical clobber, to name a few? Really, just a small quibble, as the point of the book was self-evident and quite practical.
I continue to try to do more, personally, to not contribute to the mess we have made of this planet.

What you have in your hands is an honest-to-goodness gift, no strings attached. You may keep it forever and ever, pass it on to a friend, or release it into the wild like I did.

Had a great time at the meet up today!

I really enjoyed this little gem.

Not preachy or science-y; just practical things an every day person can do to make a difference. And all those small things done by many people will have an impact.

Well jessibud - biro is a ballpoint pen (invented by Mr. Biro) and sarnie is a sandwich and I still use that one to this day. I think my kids were into kindergarten before they realised they were called "sandwiches" by most people.
