1 journaler for this copy...
I got this paperback at a local thrift shop, for another release copy. I'd loved the film versions (the 1956 one best) and was surprised when I first learned that it was based on a novel - and that the author was also the guy who wrote Time and Again...
It's a very creepy tale to read at night, what with the emphasis on strange things happening in dark, quiet houses! And I spotted an amusing bit of self-promotion; at one point a character notices that a local theater is showing the film "Time and Again"! It must have been wishful thinking, though, as I don't believe that was ever filmed. Anyway, the rest of the story unfolds with lots of suspense, but the ending's dramatically different from the film [er, from the 1956 one, anyway]. Since I saw the movie first it's hard to tell which one I'd have preferred if I'd done it the other way around; as it is, I like the film version, but your mileage may vary...
[There's a TV Tropes page on several of the film adaptations, with references to the book as well.]
