I felt this book really should have worked, but it just didn’t quite get there for me. I liked the two time lines and the two mysteries, and in some ways you could see the similarities between the ages, but not so much in others and it seems to take a while to see how they were going to link, other than the blood tie. I didn’t really take to any of the female characters, they were all pretty whiny, and it felt like the same ground was covered several times. The mystery of cousin Henry took me a bit by surprise, however Caroline’s story felt very familiar so I wasn’t so surprised at how that turned out.
