Book 5 of the series, the middle, and some really important revelations about Alex Rider’s father and his role with uber-criminal organisation Scorpia. There will be more to come I’m sure, and hopefully less of the annoying friction with MI6 Special Ops Blunt & Jones. Other than age that’s the biggest difference between Bond and Rider, the doubts and recriminations, or do I mean a millennial moral compass crisis?! A quick synopsis; Alex saves the world from the baddies and their fiendish plan to kill thousands of children and change the world order; the wicked witch is killed by a balloon basket(!); AR has some scrapes and adventures on the Amalfi Coast, Venice & London, under water, over water and in the air, and is trained as a [reluctant] assassin. I do worry about his schooling!
