I must admit that on opening this book I was dubious about the format (it's written as recollections from the various characters), however a few pages in & all qualms had vanished - I was totally hooked!

This book drew me completely in, it all seemed so realistic. The commentary style writing swapped from character to character making me feel like I was reading an interview & so believable too, making it easy to forget that Daisy Jones & the Six never actually existed. It also highlighted the different viewpoints of the band members & how misunderstandings occurred between them, with these misconceptions being quite funny or even heartbreaking at times.

The ending? Well, you know I do grumble about endings but in this case the only disappointment was reaching the end of my journey with Daisy Jones & The Six...& what a ride it was.

A fictional band tell the story of their rise to fame in the 70s and how the relationships between them and an astonishing level of drug taking led to their break up. I'm afraid I didn't find this very interesting. It was hard to keep track of who all the characters were and most of them seemed to be pretty awful. Not for me.

Loved, loved this book. The interview device worked for me; the individual voices really came through. The emotional impact was enormous and I found myself in tears in spite of myself. And, I was really struck by the emotional parallel to A Star is Born.
