In short, an exclusive gated community is shocked….& somewhat relieved…to find one of their neighbours is dead. Each one of the six households has a reason to wish Olive Collins dead – but who actually killed her?
I don’t have much to say about this book other than I loved it - I certainly don't want to let any of the neighbours dirty little secrets out & spoil future readers enjoyment!
From the off, when a cloud of bluebottles swarm from Olive’s chimney heralding the fact that she’s died, I knew it was going to be a book I enjoyed. While Olive’s body may be decomposing her presence is still felt as we hear her version of the events leading to her death. As the neighbours come under scrutiny from each other as well as the police, Olive is there to tell things as she saw it & this style underlines the misunderstandings & consequences of interactions between the neighbours.
I’ve no real gripes about the story, just two minor points.:
Initially I would have liked a map, just showing who lived at which house, who was married to who & who their kids were…
…& my copy’s cover had a woman in a swimming pool on it which has no relevance whatsoever to the story as far as I can see so what’s that all about?!
Overall, I loved this book, was thoroughly wrapped up in it & devoured it within 24 hours. I’ll certainly be on the look out for more by this author & certainly recommend this one.

Arrived safely today. Many thanks for this RABCK - It sounds like an interesting read!
An enjoyable quick read that left me guessing who the guilty party might be!
Will most likely drop this off at a local LFL/donation table if there is no interest on the forum.
