One of the girls at work gave me two huge boxes of books. So far most of it looks like what I call "Middle Age Women Lit". Fern Michaels, Jackie Collins, and Daniell Steel. Those aren't my bag so they're going on the To Be Released pile.

But this one looks good. I like Nora Roberts and always have. I'm currently reading this one.

Wow, who would have guessed that fluffy romance author Nora Roberts could be so dark and rowdy.

I really liked this book. It's about 3 sisters who had never met. Their "father" dumped each wife the moment they presented him with a girl. But now he's dead, and good riddance. Only the bastard thinks he can run their lives and stick on to them from beyond the grave. He stipulates in his will that the girls must live on the ranch ($20 Million Ranch) for one year or it will all be donated to some charity. But if they can tough it out they split it three ways.

Sounds easy right? Well, don't look now but there's a crazed seriel killer on the loose and he's moved up from livestock and pets and has a taste for the human kill. This guy is a butcher and some of the scenes are just downright disturbing. You think you have it all figured out, but do you? I certainly didn't.

Of course this being Nora Roberts there has to be some romance in it. And with three sisters there must be three hunky men somewhere. Yup. Three yummy cowboys and all of a sudden love is in the air.

I only have two complaints with this book.

1.) The gore scenes were trying and seemed almost repetitive towards the end. It's like gratuitous sex scenes. After a while they're tiring and you skim through them and don't lose anything if you don't read every single word.

2.) At the end of the book, once the bad guy was dead (which was kind of anti-climatic) it seemed that Nora still had two sisters without a happily ever after. So in 5 pages she wraps both of their stories up with lame proposals and little drama. It seemed like she was thinking "Well I've his my page limit, I better wrap this up quick, Ok you two kiss kiss, get married. Everyone's happy the end. Now off to the editor."

Overall I enjoyed the book. I give it an 8 out of 10.
