Later: Subtitled "The True Story of a Blind Man, His Guide Dog, and the Triumph of Trust," it's the memoir of Michael Hingson, blind from birth, and his guide dog Roselle, who - together - made their way out of the World Trade Center after the attacks of 9/11.
The book opens with Higson's homage to Roselle, who died in 2011. The book proper interweaves the step-by-step descent from the damaged tower with episodes from Hingson's life as a blind person. Harrowing and moving, it brought me back to that day...
The book includes a section on "the courtesy rules for blindness," things to do and not to do. There's also "Blindness: a Left-handed Dissertation" by Kenneth Jernigan, a list of resources, and a glossary.
