I read this book about hippies from California moving to the end of the trail in Alaska to "live off the land" while on vacation in Hawaii. Weird. I don't know if this is a case of "you had to be there" - have been around when this kind of thing was happening - to enjoy the story but I enjoyed the heck out of this book. And I expanded my vocabulary at the same time. T.C. Boyle is a superb writer - literate and funny.
