I found this softcover in this Little Free Library in Nashua NH while dropping off some books of my own, and nabbed it for another release copy. It's the novelization of the darkly funny 2012 film, a parody-and-deconstruction of horror-movie tropes that I enjoyed very much.

It's hard to talk about the story at all without giving away some delightful surprises, so I'll just say that this riff on "teenagers encounter evil at remote cabin" stories is simply packed with references, meta-references, dark humor, and gore. The novelization is pretty faithful to the script, and while it lacks the impact of the visuals and the actors' emotions, it does fill in a few gaps regarding tidbits that I missed while watching the film. As movie novelizations go, this one does a nice job - but you should still go see the movie!
