I would never have picked this book based on its name, theme or the back cover blurb, but ended up reading it anyway - the "mind-bending leap of faith" part (don't want to spoil what it is!), as described on the back cover, turned out to be interesting enough to keep me wanting to know where the whole thing was going. Unfortunately much of the story is cheesy, predictable and revolves around a tiresome obsessed mother, but it did have a few worthwhile moments.

When in doubt, skim-read. Though Hunter's experience was an interesting one, the story just wasn't my cup of tea otherwise. With 470+ pages it just felt overly long, so having a read here and another one there was quite enough for me. Will have the book travelling soon..
