The first adult fiction novel from that nice man on the radio (still missed from the beeb)

(9/06/22) I've read one of the ‘Itch’ trilogy, and there are some other books in his growing back catalogue, but this is his first modern adult thriller. It’s relatively assured, about a terrorist plot targeting the press in London and an inter-faith gathering in Coventry. The gang of plucky amateur detectives is led by spunky Famie, her daughter, and colleagues, deftly using as many females and ethnic groups as possible … his time at the BBC wasn’t wasted! (tongue in cheek) There were some unbelievable plot devices, especially undercover Hari’s role and the final twist, but Mayo did a good Child-esque job of building up the tension, and slowing down time, in the final confrontation. The last line hints that there may be more to this story, a not so subtle hook to a possible sequel.

Update Sorry I released this too soon, the Cross Keys is not happy to have books ... I forget the daft list of reasons, but basically they're not book-friendly. I can send this to you (pm me) or I'll look for another place in Chester for a new crossing zone :)

A new release location but an existing book shelf, well worth a visit for book crossing and/or beer, food, socials ... !
