Very good story starting with Shardlake agreeing to assist a young girl charged with murdering her younger cousin to find that Cromwell has pressured the judge into staying her execution for two weeks as "payment" for investigating something called "Dark Fire". This has Shardlake delving into upper class politicking involving the Duke of Norfolk....... and multiple murders........ and ultimately the downfall of Cromwell himself.
