Having read a few of Pam Jenoff”s books, I was looking forward to this one. I was so disappointed with this sequel to "The Kommandant's Girl". The entire story is unrealistic and too far out to be true to life. The main characters seem to all be multi-lingual. Doesn’t ring true. Marta survices a Nazi prison with what seems like little effect and falls in love with her rescuer. He falls in love with her. All of this immediately. They get engaged, but he doesn’t show up and is assumed dead. I knew he wasn’t, but he shows up later and Marta lets him have his excuses. Marta is attacked by a top Russian assassin with a knife and she kicks him in the shin and gets away. Really? The setting for this story is real with th awful-the holocaust, the war, communist takeover, traitors and spies but this is written almost as a cheap romance. I only finished the book because I bought it. I do not recommend this book. It is so predictable and made me feel that I wasted my time on this book.
