archy is a free-verse poet

and i can t imagine how he
works the carriage return

who claims she was
cleopatra though
she has no recollection
of mark anthony
but has known many toms
and had many kittens
archy bemoans his state
in a way that s witty but
stirs the soul
he has taught me new words
like corybantic
i read his poems
before turning out
the light
and i go to sleep
with a smile on
my face
