Thank you so much! Perfect Choice! I love a Christmas Anthology. This will be re-wrapped and put aside for next year's bookish advent calendar.

Murder Under The Christmas Tree - Good

The first of my festive reads and the first of my own bookish advent calendar(*) - a collection of short stories all set at Christmas or the run up to the big day. Some great authors, mostly vintage/golden age with a couple of modern authors thrown in, all thoroughly enjoyable and some pointers to new authors to read in the future.

A nice quick read

(*) every year I collect interesting looking Christmas themed books, wrap them up and then pick them at random during December. I never know what I'm going to get and I have some sweet treats wrapped for non-book days. Works for me!

Thank you very much Secret Santa for the book of Christmas themed short stories. I recognise most of the authors and even read books by four of them. As soon as I have read them, which may not be until Christmas next year (as have a few books to read first), I will make a journal entry. I prefer to read Christmas stories when the festive season starts!

The last of my Secret Santa books I received in 2023 now completed. I liked a few of the stories (the last Cadfael story was probably my favourite) but equally a few of them left me cold. It takes me a while to get into short story books and by the time I have got into them (or in some cases completely bemused throughout!) it's finished. I prefer a more full bodied novel to get my teeth into - probably reading it over Christmas is not a good idea as I'm too easily distracted and kept losing the plots! I quite liked Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes story too - His armchair assessments just amuse me.
