The best-selling story of an extraordinary life. Bob Geldof's own autobiography.
Released on Tuesday, May 11, 2004 at Leeds BC monthly meeting in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England United Kingdom.
One of many caught at the Leeds meetup in May. Currently on the TBR pile, which apparently has now grown so large that I've had to start another one next to it because I couldn't reach the top. Of the first one, obv.
*update 1* 1 chapter in and am finding the style a bit hard work. He jumps. Which is distracting. From topic to topic without warning. Still, he is a Great Man so will press on regardless.
*update 2* actually, the style has settled down a bit now, and his insights are quite perceptive. Amazing the detail he can remember from way back when. Unless he's making it up of course :)
*update 3* Well, this is really quite good, despite my initial misgivings. It is the depth of self awareness and the standard of the anecdotes that makes this. His story about running over a road inspector particularly stands out for example.
*update 4* OK, I was totally wrong at first. This is a great autobiography. OK, it's out of date now, but this is one life that still has plenty to say that is relevant and interesting. And his style is excellent. It ends about a year or so after Live Aid, when he was still with Paula and contains a lot of the f word so if you are easily offended...
Warmly recommend.
Oohh! It's topical again. Released in Leeds tonight.
