This is not an ordinary book: it's a BookCrossing book! BookCrossing books are world travelers - they like to have adventures and make new friends...and with your help, they can even write home to say what they've been doing! (You may remain anonymous if you wish.)

Ex-library hardcover with dust jacket.
Helen Kimura's four daughters have always lived together with their mother...until they suddenly find themselves dispersed across the country to live with their fathers for an indefinite period of time. How will they manage without each other? Will they be able to be together again?
My records aren't available at the moment, but if I haven't already read a book for Arkansas this year, I'll count this one since both Shelby (the protagonist) and Maddie are sent there.

Wednesday, September 8, 2021: claimed from my Asian diaspora VBB and bound for Arkansas by media mail. Since part of this story takes place in Arkansas, I'm happy to see this book headed that way. :D

Thanks for the book, the amazing origami bookmark, and for hosting the VBB! I really liked the other Kadohata book I read, so have high hopes for this one.
This continues my fascination with dysfunctional family stories. Some families make it work for them and this one leans more toward putting the fun in dysfunction. I liked the interaction between the sisters and their loyalty to each other.
I also liked that it was mostly set in Arkansas. There were some places I recognized and some that were obviously made up.
