Thrush Green and Winter in Thrush Green by Miss Read are well worth reading. Its the May Day holiday and a Fair has come to the Village of Thrush Green. Mrs Curdle who runs the Fair every year has to face difficulties because she is getting older and finding it difficult to Carry on. However one of her sons takes over for her, and the people look forward to the Fair each year.
The Arrival of a stranger in the village of Thrush Green stirs up speculation and interest. They wonder who he is and what he intends to do. People invite him to their homes and he soon finds he is involved in things happening in the Village, but his presence also has a dramatic effect on Miss Dimity Dean's romantic prospects.
