Reading now. This is a hardback that has two different colors of text, red and green, to denote the two different worlds of the book.

I enjoyed the first half of this, but then felt that it sort of fell apart. It seemed to become quite slow and aimless after the halfway point. Since I loved the film version when I was growing up, perhaps this is that rare case where the movie is actually better than the book!

I'm sending a box of surprise RABCKs that I thought you might enjoy. As always, no pressure to read them if they are not for you... do as you please with them! I'm including this one because I know that you sometimes enjoy fantasy novels.

The box of books arrived safely today - a lovely surprise; many thanks! I recall the 1984 film very well, though I liked some segments better than others - and really can't forgive the whole Artax-the-horse situation {rueful grin}.

The book's a very handsome edition, with illustrations by Roswitha Quadflieg (who sounds as though she should be a character in the story herself), and with red text for Bastian's "real-world" segments and blue for the story-in-story bits.
