The story of Patroclus, a prince who is unloved by his father and sent to be fostered with the beautiful semi-divine young Achilles. Patroclus is fascinated by Achilles and it seems unbelievable that Achilles should notice him but soon the two are close friends and more. But Achilles has been made by the gods as the greatest warrior of his generation, and Patroclus gave a vow to defend Helen... Prophecy cannot be escaped and inevitably the pair end up at the siege of Troy. This is wonderfully well told, totally captivating.
