How to Live Safely in a Science Fictional Universe

This was a book that I couldn't make up my mind about. I read it more slowly than I had expected, as if it was making my brain work harder that the typically smooth writing would suggest, and still couldn't say if I liked it or not. It was interesting, but I wonder if the humor that the reviews all mention was just not quite the right match for me. Thinking back over it, "funny" isn't one of the adjectives that stands out for me. Perhaps I read it with too earnest of a viewpoint. Tragicomic? Yes, quite often, but the main character's tale has a sense of sad sincerity that somehow muted the humor for me.
Maybe it will trigger more definite feelings for the next reader! For me, I would recommend it as an experience, even if it was an uncertain one for me.

Sent to the winner of the Sci-Fi Sweepstakes. I believe this is on their wishlist.
Thank you for the wishlist book! Can’t believe I won this round of the sci-fi sweeps.
Eh. At page 10, I was fairly certain I didn’t want to continue reading this book. So, I performed the page 99 test. Which made me 99% certain I didn’t want to continue reading. So, I flipped to a page later on and TAMMY was crying again. 100% certain.
I’ll pass it along and hopefully it will find its reader.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
One of the starting books for the To the Stars: A Science Fiction Bookbox 3.0!
👽 🤖 👾👽 🤖 👾👽 🤖 👾
I'm claiming this book from the To the Stars: A Science Fiction Bookbox 3.0.
Later: This... wasn't quite what I'd expected from the title - though I admit that the book-within-the-book (the quotes from the "how to live safely..." guide that appear here and there among the main text) was rather fun. Not as much fun as, say, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, but then, what is? {wry grin}
There were some interesting points here and there, but overall I didn't enjoy it as much as some other recursive/time-travel/reality-warping novels I've read.
[There's a TV Tropes page on the novel, with some entertaining tidbits.]
