The newest urban fantasy novel, and hopefully series, A Sense of Danger, has the protagonist, Charlotte Locke, working as a "lowly analyst" in Section 47 of a secret government agency that tracks terrorists, criminals, and other paramortal bad guys who wish to unleash their 'badness' abilities on an unsuspecting mortal world. She is smart, clever, and has magic. Her magic: synesthesia that senses danger and detects lies. She sees lies in colors depending on the degree of lie. In other words, she is a spy (and underappreciated at that), but that under-estimation is what makes her so stealthy.
Meeting one of the cleaners (read: assassins), Desmond Percy, signals danger, danger, danger for Charlotte, but she is forced to work with him to help uncover a plot to cause untold misery on humans.
As long as he doesn't lie to her, they will develop a working relationship, but at what cost to her? At what cost to him?
Can they learn to trust each other?
And there's the fact they find themselves attracted to each other. What then?
New characters, but still with Estep's classic style.

This book never arrived at the destination it was sent. The BCer received another book instead (one that I never had in my possession, nor would I ever send). Someone at one of the post offices obviously opened the package and accidentally switched out the books. The weirdest thing is that she received the other gift items in the package. Reported it to the local USPS, but I have no idea where this book is now. Was it tossed by the "wrong" recipient, who did not get the book he/she wanted, or will it be read and/or passed on? Will it some day surface? The mystery continues.
