This slim hardcover was among the books donated by the United Way and the Nashua Public Library for distribution to various Little Free Libraries, and I nabbed it for another release copy.
It's an alphabet book themed on (surprise!) ants - starting with ANTique, showing an old-lady aunt in a rocker on her porch, knitting, and ending with Antzzzzzzzzz, and a picture of a picnic table strewn with ants who have presumably passed out from too many cookie crumbs. Very cute! (The back cover even features a musical score, "Aria AndANTe", with the musical notes drawn as ants...)
I loved the whole thing, but my favorite entries include "chANT" (a row of ant-monks in a cathedral), "flamboyANT" (a fabulously-dressed ant sauntering down the boulevard), "mutANT" (a gigantic ant looms over a startled ant-eater), "vigilANTes" (a group of ants in cowboy hats and gun-belts), and - new word for my vocabulary - "xANThophile", one who loves the color yellow, with an image of an ant happily sunbathing on top of a banana.
