This slim ex-library hardcover was among the books donated by the United Way and the Nashua Public Library for distribution to various Little Free Libraries. It's a lovely exploration of woodland birds, plants, and wildlife, told in a counting-rhyme poem and illustrated with photographs of the Kentucky woods near the author's home.
"One path, a stick for a staff.
Two birds, daybreak's words."
And on through bird nests, moss, earthworms, and more, concluding with:
"Ten trees whose innumerable leaves
Clean the air for everything that breathes."

I left this book on a sheltered picnic table near the boat launch at the Gatehouse entrance to Mine Falls Park; hope someone enjoys it! (I've seen ladyslippers in the park in the past, like the ones on the cover of the book, but didn't spot any today.)
[See other recent releases in NH here.]
