Mortimer and Rumpole at their best. Mortimer has created a rough around the edges, crafty old Rumpole, but what I like about him is his willingness to put right before wrong regardless of the consequences to himself. I think this fat, cigar-puffing grouch is as close as we will get to a contemporary knight in shining armour.
