I found this slightly-battered softcover in this Little Free Library in Bedford NH while dropping off some books of my own. It's the first of a series based on Regency spies, from the Scarlet Pimpernel to the Purple Gentian to the titular Pink Carnation - as researched by a Harvard grad student![There's a TV Tropes page on the series, with some entertaining tidbits.]
