After coming away (sort of) empty handed (in terms of the NSS Unconvention) after going into 7 charity shop, 2 pubs, 2 little free libraries and 2 cafes I finally found a secondhand bookshop in Lee (Lewisham, SE London) that came up trumps! This is one of 5 books I got today to post to Edinburgh.

FIVE! Five wish list books, have arrived in a neat wee box! An event above and way beyond any expectations as a participant in the International Un-Con 2021 NSS. (NSS = Not So Secret - book parcel exchange by post.) Huge, HUGE THANKS ETMadrid. Plus, decorated with wonderful prints of ancient to old buildings in Rotherhithe village, an excellent 100% cotton, tea towel and a hot choc in a packet! (Genius move!) Whole box akin to receiving a SURPRISE selection box of Hotel Chocolate Liquor Chocolates = BEAMING GRINS! Sumptuously rich pickings that are going to last a good long while. Grinning from ear to ear in the capital of Tartanland.

L’Engle, Madeleine – From This Day Forward How wonderful, a surprise Wishlist book and some non-fiction that will engage and hold my attention. Because it’s a chance to discover something of Madeleine L’Engle herself. Her children’s books have been much admired for many years all over the world and no wonder, no “writing down to the kiddies” here, tough stuff handled with great sensitivity.

COMPLETE LIST OF WISHLIST TITLES FROM BOOKCROSSER ETMadrid;
• In the Kingdom of Mists (Claude Monet #1) – Jakeman, Jane
• Justice Hall (Russell & Holmes 6) – King, Laurie R
• From This Day Forward – L’Engle, Madeleine
• Rubicon – Saylor, Steven
• Water-Blue Eyes (Leo Caldas #1) – Villar, Domingo

GOSH & GASP! My NSS PARCEL did arrive on Saturday! It delighted me by waiting on my doormat to be discovered as I left to buy milk in the evening. Could have been that the postie made too soft a knock I missed when the radio was on loud, or perhaps the postie didn’t knock? Sometimes these sweet young posties don’t imagine my door bell actually works, perhaps as it looks so old? (As well it might of course, as the building is over 100 years old.) To finish, again HUGE THANKS ETMadrid.
