Five Red Herrings
3 journalers for this copy...
Lord Peter Wimsey could imagine the artist stepping back, the stagger, the fall, down to where the pointed rocks grinned like teeth.
But was it an accident - or murder? Six members of the close-knit Galloway artists' colony do not regret Campbell's death.
Five of them are red herrings.

Thank you for this books and all the sweets 3vie. A Dorothy L Sayers book is a treat to receive.
Gosh, there was a lot about train timetables in this novel. I mean, crikey! I lost the plot with all that stuff tbh. I still have no clear idea about what the importance of the bicycle directed to London was...
If you removed a lot of that back and forth, there was an interesting plot in here struggling to get out. I enjoyed the characters and Whimsy's banter with them all. He was much more attractive as a personality in this novel than I've seen him in others. I also enjoyed the fact that the plot was set in Scotland, and Sayers had taken such care to get the geography right.
So not a great read, but it was alright on the whole.
