In 1933, Banneux, 20 kilometers from Liège, on the heights of the Ardennes, is a village of 325 inhabitants. On January 15th, the eleven-year-old Mariette Beco appears for the first time as a light-radiating female figure. In a total of eight apparitions up to March 2nd, the figure of light tells the girl that she is “the virgin of the poor” and that she has come to “alleviate suffering”. She shows the child in the forest a source that she expressly designates “For all nations” and “For the sick”

Heteronormative means that it is assumed that the desire of men and women relates to one another (heterosexual), and that this corresponds to the norm. In short, when it comes to virginity, there is usually a clear, gender-specific assessment: virginity & femininity is somehow "good"; Virginity & masculinity is somehow not that “good”... !:(
