I got this softcover from an online seller. It's a look at the long history of the cephalopods, from squid to octopus to nautilus and more. Examinations of the fossil record, comments on the behaviors of modern members of the clan contrasted with speculation about the long-vanished ones, personal anecdotes from the author about teaching squid biology in classrooms, discussions of recent discoveries - all in all a fascinating and sometimes touching look at these lovely, exotic, alien-seeming creatures.

I plan to leave this book on a table or window-ledge near Union St. and Island St. while on my way to dinner with friends at Japu, a very good Japanese/Peruvian fusion restaurant. Hope someone enjoys the book!
