I bought this while out running errands today; it is brand new but I got it at a deep discount ($1.50!) which is always exciting, lol.

I am doing an Around the World Reading Challenge and I bought this without knowing much about it because I glimpsed that it's set in Argentina and I needed more South America books for my challenge.

I finished reading this book today. It was way outside my normal interests/genres/comfort zone, which isn't always a bad thing... But it's not always a good thing either. In this case it could have been worse but it wasn't great either. It has a fair bit of language I didn't enjoy and it has the odd scene that was rather explicit in terms of sexuality or violence. It's definitely the kind of book that I could see being made into a thriller-y, action-y movie that I wouldn't like much (except for what I'm sure would be some nice visuals in terms of scenery), but lots of other people would.

I think the biggest disappointment for me with this book though, was not really about the book itself (I did notice a couple of mistakes that frustrated me, but they were very small... probably things an editor should have caught); it was that I bought this book for my challenge based on its Argentinian setting (which I glimpsed on the back of the book without reading the full description)... And it was barely set in Argentina! Like, 13 or so pages out of 433. Travel is an important aspect of the book and it's set in various locations within at least nine different countries... But most of all it's set in the USA. I hadn't read a USA book this year anyway, so I will count it for that instead of for Argentina... But that's a little sad because books with Argentinian settings are much harder to find than books set in the US!
