A very sensitive account of the resistance organized by the small Turtle Mountain tribe of North Dakota when the government proposes the termination of their rights in the 1950s.
As always in Erdrich's novels I am impressed by the awareness of the people, their ability to see beyond, and their deep connection with and understanding of the natural world.
The only reason I didn't rate this with ten stars is the surprising number of careless typos; I have never seen so many in a published book.
