I've had this collection for several years and have read all of it except for Evil Under the Sun (finished 6/10/22). Enjoyed them all - some of Christies best. Contains:

TEN LITTLE INDIANS (aka AND THEN THERE WERE NONE)
PERIL AT END HOUSE
THE MURDER AT HAZELMOOR (aka THE SITTAFORD MYSTERY)
EASY TO KILL (aka MURDER IS EASY)
EVIL UNDER THE SUN

Ten Little Indians (And Then There Were None) - Read 6/25/1974

One of my all-time favorite Christie mysteries. This book was made into several movies and goes by a couple of different titles: Ten Little Indians for one. Highly recommend! Probably my favorite movie version was from 1945 with Barry Fitzgerald and Walter Huston.

Considered the best mystery novel ever written by many readers, And Then There Were None is the story of 10 strangers, each lured to Indian Island by a mysterious host. Once his guests have arrived, the host accuses each person of murder. Unable to leave the island, the guests begin to share their darkest secrets--until they begin to die.

Peril at End House - Read 11/22/1978

Goodreads review:
Hercule Poirot and his friend Colonel Hastings are enjoying a holiday on the Cornish coast when they become acquainted with a young woman named Nick who lives in an old residence known as End House, near their hotel. In the course of conversation with Nick, Poirot learns of several recent attempts on her life and commits to finding the would-be murderer and protecting the young woman. There are a number of friends, family, neighbors and others whose connections with Nick are unclear until the end. Agatha kept me guessing.

Murder at Hazelmoor (The Sittaford Mystery) - Read 3/22/2003

Goodreads review:
The Sittaford Mystery is another enjoyable standalone murder mystery by our queen of crime, Agatha Christie. Set in an isolated small village in Dartmoor, the story begins with a "table-turning" ("séance") hosted on a wintry night by the newcomers to the sittaford house. At the sénance, a murder is pronounced which turns out to be true. The police make an arrest, but the fiancée of the suspect firmly believes in his innocent and partners up with a journalist to clear him up of the charge.

It was a thrilling story where more than one aspect is on play. Two investigations, one carried by the police, and the other carried by the amateur duo shed contrasting viewpoints on the murder. It was nice to have different views presented from different angles. And I put in a third with my point of view, so there were enough viewpoints to solve the mystery.

Easy to Kill - Read 1/8/1982

Goodreads review:
No Poirot or Miss Marple in this one. There is just Superintendent Battle, and as policemen don't do any actual work in Christie's books, he is just an onlooker.

The action centers around Luke Fitzwilliam, a retired policeman who encounters an old lady in a railway carriage. She wants to report a series of murders, but is soon dead herself.

The detective work, thereafter, is not of the highest quality. A love story develops. At the end, there is a violent confrontation, in a rather surprising revelation of the identity of the culprit.

Evil Under the Sun - Finished reading 6/10/2022

EVIL UNDER THE SUN was first published in 1941 and is generally considered by many readers among their favorite Christie works. It is the 25th appearance of Hercule Poirot and has him on vacation at the Jolly Roger Hotel on Smuggler's Island to enjoy the sun and sea air. But as usual, murder follows Poirot wherever he may go. There are several guests also staying at the inn and among them is the glamorous beauty, Arlena Marshall, who appears to be having an affair with another guest, Patrick Redfern. Then Arlena turns up strangled to death on a beach that is normally empty during the morning hours because it doesn't get sunlight until the afternoon. The prime suspect is Arlena's husband, Kenneth, who may be jealous of Arlena's indiscretions but also seems to have an airtight alibi. So who could have committed this foul deed?

Of course Poirot is able to sift through the clues and determine the killer by book's end. However, I was really stymied by this one. I had no idea who the killer was although along the way I had various ideas which all turned out to be wrong. The way the murder took place was very complex and I salute Agatha Christie for coming up with this very ingenious plot. Overall, another enjoyable outing from her.

In 1982, this one was made into a movie with Peter Ustinov playing Poirot. I remember seeing this years ago but fortunately, I didn't remember how the murder was resolved or who the killer was. I'll probably be watching it again as well as reading more of Christie.
