Memoirs of a Geisha : A Novel
3 journalers for this copy...
My sister originally recommended this book to me. It was a can't-stop-reading-till-I-get-to-the-end book for me.
I bought this book to encourage reading, so I will register and then release it!
My hope is that someone will find this book,
read it,
journal it here at BookCrossing,
and then share it with someone else!

I've been meaning to read this for a while. Thanks so much debnance, for sending it to me! I will write another journal entry when I'm finished.

This was really good... except for the whole 'sell your daughters to be objectified by men for the rest of their lives' theme. I think I would have enjoyed this more if it was COMPLETE fiction. Because really, only the characters are fiction and Japanese women have actually lived as geisha. I guess things could have been worse though.
Arrived today! Thanks, cinnycat -- I'd forgotten all about this.
Interesting, no doubt. I also don't agree with the "sell you daughters" idea...but the cultural picture was fascinating.
