About the Book:
Julie and James, are a young couple haunted by their new home. The move―prompted by James’s penchant for gambling, his inability to keep his impulses in check―is quick and seamless; both Julie and James are happy to leave behind their usual haunts and start afresh. But the house, which sits between lake and forest, has plans for the unsuspecting couple...

The architecture becomes unrecognisable, decaying before their eyes. Stains contract and expand, mapping themselves onto Julie’s body in the form of bruises; mould taints the water that James pours from the sink. As the couple search for the source of their mutual torment, they become mired in the history of their peculiar neighbours and the mysterious previous residents of the house.

Just arrived and I'm excited to read it. 2 years on my wishlist so not the oldest but getting some way there.
It will go on my bedside table and I'll hopefully get to it in a couple of weeks.
Thanks for sending it.

Started strongly but I couldn't get involved with the couple as I really didn't care what happened to them. The latter end of the book has large chunks of prose that my A Level English son will probably tell me are full of interesting clauses and have deep meaning but for me were just unintelligible streams of consciousness.
There was no satisfactory ending and too many unresolved plotlines for my liking.

Amazing book! Got me out of a reading slump, as lockdown was a challenge to my ability to focus enough to enjoy any books.
The story is about a haunted house and the young couple that just bought it. You feel everything they do, you feel like you are there living all the creepiness. It really gets under your skin x
