I've really enjoyed looking through this book of postcards and found it difficult to pick just one! I managed to whittle it down to In Fairyland.

This looks brilliant and I love CRM. I won't be rushing to pass this on.

I thought I knew a lot about CRM but I never knew about his watercolours and I've got to say not many of them are to my taste. I think his art influenced by his wife, Margaret MacDonald, is more to my taste. On the other hand, I love his architecture and furniture and I am lucky enough to live close to Hill House, the Hunterian Art Gallery, the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art and Glasgow School of Art. I worked in Glasgow when this beautiful building went up in flames, not once but twice within six months, and my heart was broken watching it. There is also the House for an Art Lover nearby, a modern build based on unrealised designs by CRM. I used to think I knew most things about his work but I happened to be in Paris when there was an exhibition of his furniture in Musee D'Orsay and I saw much more 'masculine' furniture than I had seen before. His style has survived time and is still desirable more than 100 years later. I am not going to take a postcard from this book because my favourites are all pieces I can go and see 'in the flesh'. Therefore I will leave them for people who do not have as easy access as I do.

This has arrived safely with me in London. I can’t wait to have a look and make my selection.

I don’t really know anything about Charles Rennie Mackintosh except that he made beautiful things. After reading the little Bio of him at the beginning of this, I really want to find out more now. I’m not overly fussed about his water colours, the colours are too muted for my taste. I prefer the beautiful furniture pictured in this book. And initially I thought I’d nab a picture of one of them. But my eye was really drawn to “A Hill Town in Southern France c1924-1926”. The colours are a little bolder and the picture composition just called to me. Thank you so much for sharing thieve postcard in this way. I actually have the address of the next reader as she was Also next in line for the last Book Ray I participated in. So this will be packed up today ready to send tomorrow.

Now, which to choose!

Journal Entry 18 by wingrahar109wing at Ash Vale, Surrey United Kingdom on Tuesday, May 11, 2021
So many lovely postcards to choose from!
I’ve seen CRM’s furniture in several museums, but I have not seen much of his artwork, so I decided to choose one of those. Eventually I opted for The Wassail, which is a lovely golden colour.
Thank you for sharing, ReetPetite
