I really enjoyed this book. I thought it really evoked the atmosphere of Pride and Prejudice and I didn't find any of it jarred with me at all. Even though I could guess the likely outcome, that was part of the comfort of reading it. Thank you so much for sending this to me, it was just the right book. :-)

Sending this to the winner of the Book and Bookmark Sweeps, as I think they will enjoy it as much as Poodlesister and I did.

This was a big cosy feelgood read which I enjoyed and got through very quickly. Being nitpicky, I'd say some parts were quite twee, and I found some of Hadlow's character interpretations unrealistic compared to how Austen wrote them (even Mary at times). This led to occasional moments I had to pause and remind myself that just because something didn't feel Austen-like, I was still allowed to enjoy reading it :-).

But Hadlow did also offer some interesting perspectives on Mary's actions and reading choices in the original novel, the marriage of Charlotte and Mr Collins, and the life of the Gardiners in London. The characters were all engaging, and the plot moved at the right pace.

Overall as Pride and Prejudice sequels/alternative perspectives go I prefer Longbourn by Jo Barker which charts everything from the perspective of the servants. But The Other Bennet Sister was still a lovely read.
